I enjoyed how this cutie stretched and turned to look to the side. The lines of his silhouette encouraged a more moving background and I thought of how lillies I have seen can bend this way. Voila, the two end up in the same painting.

As I continue with my Bird Series 2, a bluebird has a special meaning to me. When I was growing up girls had a choice to be a "Brownie/Girl Scout", or a "Bluebird/ Camp Fire Girl". You guessed it, I was the latter. At the end of "bluebirds" we got to "fly up" to be a Camp Fire Girl. Maybe that is the reason I have been painting birds as a series for a second time.

Even if you can't relate to my story, this one is a cutie. Painted on a stable surface of masonite, primed with gesso, and painted with professional oil paints. This will be ready to ship around March 5, 2014. The paint is thick in some areas so it will need a good amount of time to dry enough to send.

Did you know that several #California #Quail broods may mix after hatching, and all the #parents care for the young? This worked out well for me since I wanted to show the chicks with and adult and the males are more distinctive looking.

Girl Feeding Birds in Venice at St. Marks Square after the rain, 9x12 on linen

The pigeons were glad to see our young girl holding still enough to grab some seeds from her hand. It was fun for me to watch since I would be too chicken to hold still while birds claws and beaks were touching my hand!
